RACHR Completes Training Programme for K9 Search and Rescue

RACHR has completed an advanced training for eight K9 specialists from the Rescue Service of the MIA of Armenia. The course focused on the use of search and rescue dog teams to locate survivors and deceased persons trapped in collapsed structures. The training was delivered by instructors from the Stavropol Regional Branch of the Russian Union of Rescuers.

During the training participants studied modern approaches to organizing search and rescue operations involving canine teams and enhanced their practical skills in training and deploying search and rescue dogs. Particular emphasis was placed on effective handler-dog coordination, developing reliable victim detection skills, and refining dogs’ alert behaviour when locating people.

The knowledge and practical experience gained will help the Armenian specialists further improve the operational capabilities of their canine teams and enhance the effectiveness of search and rescue operations.
