RACHR instructors delivered an on-site training course entitled ‘The Use of UAVs in Forecasting and Monitoring Forest Fire Conditions and Wildfire Hotspots’ for rescue workers from the Ararat Province of the Republic of Armenia.

The training formed part of a comprehensive programme to prepare Armenian rescue workers for fighting landscape fires. Participants studied the design of multi-rotor drones, using DJI products as examples, and the specifics of their application.

The practical component included working with a camera, thermal imager and laser designator, as well as learning to use specialised software. The rescue workers also practised obtaining the coordinates of detected fire outbreaks and transmitting the data to the emergency rescue operations headquarters.

The use of UAVs enables the rapid identification of fire outbreaks, monitoring of fire spread, and improves the efficiency of force management during the suppression of wildfires.
