Educational work

RACHR implements awareness-raising and educational initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of safety and enhancing preparedness for emergency situations among various segments of the population.

The Center’s instructors, in cooperation with educational institutions and civil society organizations across the Republic of Armenia, regularly conduct outreach training sessions, lectures, and workshops for employees, university students, and schoolchildren, combining theoretical instruction with practical exercises.

These activities include introductory outdoor and wilderness training, rope techniques and basic rescue skills, as well as field-based training exercises designed to develop practical competencies in emergency preparedness and response. The Center also conducts regular open lessons for schoolchildren of different age groups and continues to expand the geographical reach of its educational activities throughout the regions of Armenia.

The training format is designed to maximize participant engagement through the use of interactive learning methods, hands-on exercises, simulations, and team-based tasks, ensuring the effective development of practical skills and safety awareness.

One of the Center’s key areas of activity is training in first aid and emergency response procedures. These courses include practical instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, trauma management, and assistance in cases of sudden medical emergencies. Such programs are delivered both to employees of public and private organizations and to students of educational institutions, contributing to a higher level of preparedness for unexpected and emergency situations.

Considerable attention is also devoted to promoting appropriate behavior in the event of a fire. During training sessions, participants learn about the causes of fires, evacuation procedures, and the proper use of primary firefighting equipment. The practical component includes smoke-filled environment simulations using safe artificial smoke and the conduct of emergency evacuation drills, enabling participants to practice their response in conditions closely resembling real-life scenarios. Particular emphasis is placed on building confidence and ensuring rapid decision-making during the critical first minutes of an emergency.

RACHR Open Days

The RACHR regularly organizes Open Day events, welcoming groups of schoolchildren, university students, representatives of various organizations, and international partners to learn about the Center’s activities and the capabilities of its training infrastructure. These events constitute an important component of the Center’s public outreach efforts and are aimed at promoting a culture of safety, raising awareness of the rescue profession, and showcasing modern emergency response technologies.

The Open Day program combines guided tours with practical activities, providing participants not only with an opportunity to observe the Center’s operations firsthand but also to experience selected aspects of rescue work through interactive and hands-on exercises.

As part of these events, visitors:

• explore the Center’s training facilities and infrastructure;
• participate in fire safety workshops and practical demonstrations;
• take part in elements of rope and high-angle training, including climbing wall activities, rappelling, and rope crossings;
• learn about the equipment and vehicles used in emergency response operations, including demonstrations and training scenarios related to road traffic accident response;
• become familiar with modern technologies employed in rescue operations, including the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and simulator-based drone operation training.

The Center’s guests include school and university students from across the Republic of Armenia, representatives of educational and civil society organizations, participants in youth and patriotic initiatives, as well as representatives of Russian institutions and international partner organizations. Open Day events are held on a regular basis and are often organized to coincide with commemorative dates, professional observances, and major Center initiatives, including RACHR anniversaries and professional rescue service celebrations.

The RACHR remains open to cooperation and is always pleased to welcome organized groups for Open Day visits and educational outreach activities.
