RACHR marked the anniversary of the Spitak earthquake by participating in a round table

A roundtable discussion entitled “Lessons of Spitak: Memory, Experience, Readiness” was held at the Gyumri branch of the Armenian State University of Economics. It was dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the Spitak earthquake and its long-term consequences.

Participants discussed not only the historical aspects of the 1988 tragedy, but also modern approaches to developing a culture of preparedness in a country with high seismic activity.

In his address, RACHR Director Armen Oganyan said that Spitak remains a key professional reference point for rescuers, requiring constant updating of knowledge and improvement of response systems. “We must heed this experience so that such tragedies never again lead to such devastating consequences,” he emphasized.
