The heads of the MES of Russia and the MES of Armenia discussed issues of cooperation

On May 14, Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Yevgeny Zinichev held a working meeting with Acting Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Andranik Piloyan. The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of prevention and elimination of emergencies.

During the working meeting, the parties considered the issues of the prospective development of the Russian-Armenian Center of Humanitarian Response, as well as strengthening its divisions with fire and rescue equipment and technic. “The Center has demonstrated its ability to promptly respond to crises and emergencies both in Armenia and in other countries,” E. Zinichev emphasized.

One of the promising activities of the Center is the training of fire and rescue specialists. In the near future, regular advanced training courses will be organized on its basis with the involvement of teachers from St. Petersburg University of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

The head of the MES of Russia announced the holding of the next meeting of the CSTO Coordinating Council for Emergency Situations under his chairmanship, scheduled for October this year in Moscow.

Within the framework of the Interstate Council for Natural and Technogenic Emergencies, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia took the initiative to intensify the activities of the CIS Forces Corps. The first full-scale exercises were completed at the training ground of the Noginsk Rescue Center, during which the issues of assistance from the Commonwealth countries in the event of a devastating earthquake in Russia were worked out.

E. Zinichev thanked the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations for supporting this event and participating in the first phase of the exercise, which involved crisis management centers of the CIS emergency services. “We are considering the possibility of organizing such exercises every two years in different CIS countries according to the most relevant scenarios. They contribute to the development of unified approaches to the protection of the population and territories,” said the Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

At the end of the meeting, E. Zinichev invited the Armenian delegation to visit the events of the International exhibition “Integrated Security” and take part in the business program.
