How to behave in case of fire in a public place?
According to fire safety rules, any room should have two or more exits from different sides. Be sure to find out where they are in your office/public area. Some of these doors may be locked at normal times, but then employees need to know where the key is kept. Also in each organization there is an employee responsible for fire safety. Naturally, if the organization is large, there are several responsible workers. They are instructed and in the event of a fire must organize the extinguishing or safe evacuation of employees and visitors. But it doesn’t hurt for every employee to know the escape routes and extinguishing agents.
Required:
– In any public place, remember the way to the exit.
– Every public place has an evacuation plan in case of fire. It shows all the directions and ways of possible evacuation, the location of stairs, emergency exits and telephones.
– Green lamps in corridors and stairwells are emergency lighting lamps for evacuation.
– If you smell smoke or hear shouts of “Fire!”, stay calm.
– Look around and assess the situation: if there is a telephone or a fire alarm button nearby, quickly inform the fire department.
– In the dark and / or if the room is filled with smoke, move to the exit, holding on to the walls and handrails. Breathe through a damp handkerchief or sleeve.
– In a multi-story building, do not try to call the elevator – go down the stairs. During the extinguishing of the fire, the electricity will be turned off and the elevators will stop.
– Do not jump into the window from a great height. If you can’t get outside the normal way, retreat to a room where there is less smoke. In a large room, there may be places remote from the source of ignition, where you can wait until help arrives.
– If you leave the premises, then be sure to close the doors behind you (not with a key!).
Calm down and make sure you’re safe. Show signs of life through the window: wave a scarf, clothes, shine a phone, a flashlight. Shout to passers-by. Keep children close to you, making sure to cover the airways with a handkerchief.
All this will allow firefighters to find you and save your life!
